We are a registered Community Interest Company which means we are run not for profit. We have been fortunate to receive a grant for £10,000 in the summer of 2018 (from The Big Lottery Awards for All) in order to pay a wage to our Mental Health Nurse for delivering our projects for a year. We are fundraising to cover hiring rooms, administration, insurance and equipment, so help is needed from the community. Most of our groups / services are free, we just ask for people to donate a little when they can afford to. We strongly feel that local people needing support should be able to access services without any financial concerns. As many services in Dawlish and surrounding areas have been cur or reduced, there are clear gaps which Roots is aiming to fill.

We have six Directors on our board:

Rosie – A registered and insured mental health nurse with over 20 years of experience. Rosie designs and delivers our projects in the community. She is a Mum to a young child and is passionate about reducing social isolation and improving support for Mums and people experiencing depression and anxiety. Rosie is a trained Laughter Yoga Instructor and has a diploma in teaching baby massage.

Gill – A retired nurse and care home owner, Gill volunteers with Tempo Tots and Laughter Yoga. She is a grandmother to many and is passionate about supporting parents and little ones on their journey. She has over 35 years experience in Dementia care.

Sonya – Sonya is a local mother with a passion for mental health. She volunteers with our Mum4Mum group and also carries out home visits for those who need support. Sonya has given her time in the community for many years.

Mick – Mick is a retired care home owner and is our Treasurer. He monitors our restricted and unrestricted funds, ensures grants are spent appropriately and that volunteers expenses are correctly logged and paid.

Tracey – Tracey is a local business owner and co-ordinates any payroll and HMRC responsibilities. She is passionate about people with mental health concerns getting the support they need. Tracey encourages local people to raise much needed funds for Roots.

James – James is our company secretary and is responsible for documenting our meetings, discussions and decisions. He volunteers at events and assists with Laughter Yoga.
